The Warm Demander model offers educators a practical framework for culturally responsive, learner-centered instruction and relationship-building. This session focuses on adopting this approach to affirm the potential of diverse adult learners, fostering both their perseverance and success through a balance of accountability and growth.
Participants will explore the five core elements of the model: Building Trust, Teaching Self-Discipline, Culturally Responsive Interactions, Believing the Impossible, and Embracing Failure. Through discussion, surveys, and case studies, we’ll explore how effective educators blend firmness with compassion—setting high expectations while offering the care, patience, and culturally aware support students need to meet them. We’ll also examine how this approach can help close opportunity gaps and empower learners from historically marginalized backgrounds through using actionable strategies that create challenging yet deeply supportive classrooms.
What you’ll learn:
Learn how a warm demander boosts equity, accountability, and engagement.
Create a respectful yet challenging classroom climate for adult learners.
Identify ways to integrate empathy and rigor into teaching practices.
Gain practical tools for implementing warm demander practices.
Participants who complete the full session will receive a Certificate of Attendance for one hour of Professional Development.
