Far too many adult learners with dyslexia, ADHD, processing disorders, and other learning differences have gone without the understanding and support they deserve. For many, these challenges were overlooked or misinterpreted in earlier schooling, leading to years of quiet struggle. This session reframes that narrative by placing the responsibility where it belongs—on educators, institutions, and communities that have the power to advocate for change. It highlights the transformational impact that occurs when educators champion accommodations, push for specialized services, and connect learners with meaningful resources.
Participants will gain a renewed sense of purpose for creating inclusive classrooms, exploring practical tools and community resources to help learners overcome barriers. Through real student stories, we’ll illustrate how advocacy and access to services can change lives, while emphasizing the importance of widespread awareness and recognition of learning differences in adult education. Educators will leave with actionable strategies for advocating within their institutions, ensuring every student has the chance to succeed.
What you’ll learn:
Understand how learning differences affect adult learners’ journeys.
Develop targeted teaching strategies to promote student growth.
Use practical tools to build persistence and confidence.
Obtain helpful resources that connect to adult learner needs.
Participants who complete the full session will receive a Certificate of Attendance for one hour of Professional Development.
