So often, the difference between success and failure in our endeavors depends on how confident we are when we undertake the activity. Put a ten foot 2x4 on the ground, and most of us would be confident in walking the length of it. Raise that same 2x4 a couple hundred feet in the air and things change for many of us. So how do we develop confidence, and how can you as a teacher, help build someone else’s confidence? The academic and personal journey students take in your classroom is filled with a variety of peaks and valleys and your ability to help students grow through these can truly shape their success in life. Being deliberate in how you approach building student confidence can reap great rewards.
In this session, we will address:
Barriers to self-confidence
Strategies for strengthening a student’s confidence
Ways to add confidence skill-training into lessons
