Developing Responsibility
Teaching Strategies to Encourage Responsibility
DURATION: 1 hour
SPEAKER: Dan Griffith
Let’s face it–the word “responsible” doesn’t create images of joy and fun in anyone’s head. But when someone is responsible–truly bought-in and accountable–they are the people we respect and admire. They do their work well, live without harming others, and seldom, if ever, cause us trials because of something they promised and then didn’t do. In the workplace they get promotions, in school they win awards and achieve success, and in their families they create stability and security. These are not genetic traits, but learned and practiced strategies just as irresponsibility is often learned.
In this session, we will address:
- Learned irresponsibility
- Strategies for strengthening a student's accountability
- Ways to add responsibility skill-training into lessons and routines
